Therapeutic Services
What is Therapeutic?
There are many times in our lives when Therapeutic Services may be helpful, including times when we are coping with major changes, times when we are dealing with losses, or times when our self-esteem and confidence is low.
Therapeutic Services can help you understand yourself better and help you to find your strengths and build on them. It often happens that what starts out as a problem becomes a turning point on the way to discovering a fuller self.

Counselling Service
At Torc Community & Family Resource Centre, we offer a confidential and compassionate counselling service to support individuals and families through life’s challenges.
Counselling can help you understand yourself better and help you to find your strengths and build on them. It often happens that what starts out as a problem becomes a turning point on the way to discovering a fuller self.
Our service provides a safe, non-judgemental space where people can explore emotional difficulties, manage stress and develop coping strategies with the guidance of a qualified counsellor or therapist. We understand that every person’s journey is unique, and we aim to meet each individual where they are, with respect, empathy and care.
Supports Offered Include:
- General in-house counselling for adults
- Adolescent therapy counselling
- Support for issues such as grief, anxiety, low mood, stress or family breakdown
Our counselling service is delivered by professionals who are fully qualified and work in line with ethical best practice. We aim to keep our service affordable and accessible, with reduced-cost sessions available.

Play Therapy
We also offer a dedicated Play Therapy service to support the emotional and social well-being of children in a gentle, age-appropriate way.
Play Therapy is a specialised form of therapy that helps children express their feelings, process difficult experiences and build resilience through the natural language of play. It is particularly effective for children who may find it hard to talk about their thoughts or emotions using words.
This service is provided in a safe, supportive space by a fully qualified Play Therapist and can support children experiencing:
- Anxiety, stress, or low mood
- Family separation or loss
- Trauma or emotional difficulties
- Behavioural challenges
- Social difficulties or low self-esteem
Our Play Therapy service is confidential, child-centred and delivered in partnership with parents to ensure the best outcomes.

Art Therapy
Our Art Therapy service provides a creative and supportive space for children and young people to explore their feelings and experiences through artistic expression.
Art Therapy uses drawing, painting and other creative activities as a way to communicate when words may be difficult to find. It helps children process emotions, develop coping skills and build confidence in a safe and non-judgemental environment.
Facilitated by a qualified Art Therapist, this service can support children and young people who may be experiencing:
- Anxiety or low mood
- Bereavement or loss
- Family changes or trauma
- Emotional or behavioural difficulties
- Low self-esteem or social challenges
Art Therapy at Torc CFRC is always child-led and delivered with sensitivity, respect, and care. No artistic skill is needed — just a willingness to express and explore.
Accessing These Services
To access any of our therapeutic or support services at Torc CFRC, individuals must first connect with a member of our team — such as our Family Support Worker, Community Development Worker, or Social Prescriber. As part of this initial engagement, you’ll be asked to complete our Engagement Form in full. This helps us understand your needs and identify the most appropriate support or pathway for you or your family.
Payment
All of our services are delivered by qualified, professional practitioners and represent a significant cost to the Centre. However, it is our priority to ensure that cost is not a barrier to accessing support.
With this in mind, a staff member will work with each individual to agree a contribution amount based on what the person or family can reasonably afford. Our aim is to make these valuable supports as accessible and inclusive as possible.
Please note: The duration and frequency of any intervention or therapy will be determined by the practitioner based on clinical or therapeutic need.
Third Party Contractors
All therapeutic services at Torc CFRC are delivered by independent professional contractors engaged to work on our behalf. Each practitioner is registered with their respective professional body, fully insured and engages in regular clinical supervision. They adhere to the ethical codes and practice standards set out by their governing organisation.
In addition, Torc CFRC applies its own set of minimum standards to ensure the quality, safety, and consistency of all services provided through the Centre.
Please note: The duration and frequency of any intervention or therapy will be determined by the practitioner based on clinical or therapeutic need.
Please note:
The delivery of these services is made possible through the support of external funders, including Tusla and other funding sources.
While every effort is made to ensure the continuity of service provision, there may be occasions where services are temporarily suspended if funding has been fully utilised. We remain committed to securing ongoing support to minimise any disruption.
